A home should be collected, not decorated.

Some things that I noticed at the 2019 Furniture Market was the use of oxidized oak. This furniture and cabinetry is a blackened version of white oak.

Vivid, high-contrast and geometric patterns and big statement mixing of materials and scale seem to be back in style. People seem to be becoming more daring with their interior choices as the volume continues to turn up in the world around us.

Beds are appearing more womb-like. There are so many things going on in the world, and we want to feel nurtured and protected when we are sleeping and/or relaxing. Lots of upholstered headboards and footboards are now sheathed in comfortable textiles that feel like a warm hug.

1970’s-inspired rounded furniture is continuing to take over. Rounded back chairs are a great way to bring the curvy trend into your home.

Art Deco influence is more prominent, inspiring both textile design and furniture silhouettes. From a color perspective, pink continues to be very strong in furniture. Colors that complement the blush hue such as olive green, oxblood, and navy are found everywhere in furnishings and finishes.
